somebody's life just got a little more organized.

and then i binged on spinach leaves in the car ride home. #nonewfriends

king of the dock.

on friday, my dad and i woke up early to drive to denmark (maine) to visit my grandmother and relive my childhood summers. though there weren't any games of manhunt, weird plays or mountain pies, there were plenty of fires, hamburgers, runs down bushrow road, and of course swims in granger pond.

we used to play this game called "king of the dock" where two people stood on opposite corners of the dock with their heels hanging off the edge and then you bounced up and down trying to make the other person lose their balance and fall off. my dad always won the title king of the dock. now he just kind of lays on it. maybe next time.  

sunburn in french translates to slapped by the sun.

and that is exactly what happened to me yesterday on nantucket. a splotchy, skin-raising sunburn despite my copious slathering of spf 55. sitting on leather in shorts will just suck for the next couple of days. at least the beach was pretty. 

after the beach we ventured to the general store for a cold beverage for rfb and i spotted the single greatest ice cream flavor known to man. 

but then got a cone of almond joy before getting on the ferry because sprinkles.

and thank god we didn't ride bikes all day. 

so it begins.

after a professional development yesterday (it's started all ready) i went to union market and feasted on delicious coffee and fish and chips. 

which ended up being great fuel for moving all my classroom furniture to its appropriate place in a room filled with in-openable windows and a broken hvac system. but at least i was able to reunite with my favorite outfit selfie mirror. 

it's great.

there's something about re watching your  favorite shows for the five hundredth time on netflix. meredith grey has some great lines in the early seasons. 

and wine.

today was my last official day as a chauffeur and chef for tiny humans. my specialties include pull through parking spaces and scrambled egg lunches. to amuse you, take a look at how close i sat to the steering wheel.

the kiddos made me this sweet thank you note (and coffee card because they've met me) and talked about me coming back to drive them places next summer.

 

and then we ate ice cream before our lunch to celebrate, because summer.

an art form.

getting dressed at 8 am on a saturday for the three b's (babysitting, birthday barbecue and bar hopping) is a difficult task. let's be honest, i'll probably be over my look after babysitting and stop at nordstrom rack to get something else to wear and then realize like 2 hours later that i am actually the only one who cares.

 

a month and a half later.

finally sitting down with a (very not whole30) breakfast to type out the learning intentions michele and i set for our incoming students. 

so excited to meet my new students and to guide them through this study.
